We’re writing to share an update regarding our upcoming 2025-26 Membership Season. In January 2024, the Officiating Section of USA Hockey decided to launch 2025-26 Membership on April 1, 2025. This decision was made to align officiating education and registration with coaching, and strongly encourage officials to complete their educational requirements prior to the start of the season.
However, a successful launch of membership registration is contingent on completing and opening the USA Hockey Learning Center which will host our classroom seminar schedules, online education modules and newly developed playing rule exercises. Our staff has been working extremely hard to finish the set-up of the new learning management platform. However, we’re currently not in a position to meet the April 1 membership launch date.
We’re in the testing phase of the system, searching for any unforeseen bugs and confirming the learning system syncs with our membership database. This means we’re close to opening, but not along the timelines we proposed.
Therefore, this email is to inform you that 2025-26 Officiating Membership will open on May 1, 2025. For all “complete” returning officials, this change should have little to no impact on your membership status as your current memberships remain valid until November 30, 2025. The only serious effect this change will have is delaying some new Level 1 officials from beginning registration as early as they planned.
